Swansea City Council Refurbishment Scheme

Swansea City Council Refurbishment scheme – Winchwen 2017

Earlier this year Vanguard Roofing Ltd submitted a successful Tender to Swansea City Council for the roof refurbishment of 63 properties in the Winchwen area of the City.

The scheme primarily involved the removal of the existing degraded roof coverings and replacing them with new and also, converting the existing porch flat roofs to a pitched roof construction. In preparation, the existing felt, batten and tiles were removed, and the redundant brick chimney stacks were dropped to below roof level. New under-felt, batten, tiles and dry ridge system were installed to BS 5534 specifications. A combination of Marley and Klober roofing products were used to complete these refurbishments, and similarly all products were installed to the latest industry standards.

When possible, Vanguard Roofing has always been very keen to give young people an opportunity to access the roofing industry through apprenticeship and the NVQ system. This refurbishment scheme with Swansea City Council provided the perfect opportunity for our trainee operatives to gain much of the experience they need to become fully qualified roofers.
